On the bright side, since Yam Blog’s style sheet is so (unnessarily) complicated, I did get to practice my css skills quite a lot in order to find out how their tags work.

The conclusion: Blogger and WordPress’ style sheets are quite easy to handle, and it’s not too much work to port the style sheets from one to the other if you know css; however, however, however, I think Yam Blog needs to seriously review their templates designs and architectures in order to make things easier for themselves and bloggers. One thing I really don’t like about Yam Blog’s style sheet is that, they use so many images (background images for almost every major tag). No wonder it’s sometimes very slow to load a blog from their server. (Think about how many people are loading the same background image file of a popular theme at the same time!)

至於我拿個養樂多部落格要幹麼… Hm… Hm… 再說吧… :P

What’s the word for favicon in Chinese?

前一陣子為了 “到底要不要在 blog 上放 counter” 這個問題掙扎了很久.

一開始放 counter 完全是為了虛榮, 想要知道到底有多少人會來看自己的 blog… 每天沒事就去看看次數有沒有增加, 又有誰來了, etc., etc. 在那段時間內得到的感想是:

• 很多人是不小心找到 blog 所以雖然來了但根本沒看什麼就走了.
• 寫的越多來的越多 (好像廢話).
• 其實真的用心在看的都是同樣的人.

這些感想其實並不是很健康的, 所以在改版改來改去, 積於為了讓自己不要被小小的 counter 制約的心情, 把 counter 拿掉了好一陣子.

但所有的掙扎都在海倫的 blog 被留下低級留言的時候消失殆盡. 安慰自己說, counter 還是可以 track 到這種豬頭的來源啊… 可以拿來做自我保護用… 那自己控制一下不要一直去看 counter report 就好了啊~

那裝回來之後當然還是… 幾乎每天都會造訪一次. ~”~

但最近看的心情不太一樣了. 可能已經真的不在乎到底誰來了誰沒來了數字是高是低吧. (反正再高也不會比 ht 的機車 blog 要高, 哼.) 現在會去看到底是哪些人來了會待的比較久… 一些有趣的 observations:

心情不好的時候用英文, 心情好的時候用中文 (or vice versa);
出去玩的時候有遊記, 窩在家裡的時候有雜記;
整理陽台的時候有花花草草的照片, 常下廚的時候有食物的照片;
小貓很乖或很不乖的時候有小貓的故事;
想唱歌的時候有歌放, 不想唱歌的時候找別人的歌來放;
再加上三步五十沒人想聽的哀嚎或是自言自語…

我的 blog 裡, 到底有什麼咧?!

你看人家專門攝影的, 每篇文章配上一張精挑細選的影像, 好有詩意.
還有還有, 那專門講貓咪的 blog 啊… 正的反的站著坐著, 都是貓!
(可基本上像我這麼閉俗明知可招攬廣大群眾卻死都不肯在 flickr 上公開小貓照片的人可能是沒法朝這個方向發展的… I mean, 誰沒事會把自己家裡爸爸媽媽姊姊妹妹哥哥弟弟的照片放在網路上叫大家來看呢? 是吧? 是吧?)
再不然有好專業的, 花花草草的 blog, 把大家的學名俗名哪兒來哪兒去都解釋的清清楚楚還配上圖片.
那更不用提專門介紹吃的, 介紹旅行的, 介紹烹調的, 介紹這個那個的屬不清的抒發專業意見的 blog.
別說沒有專門唱歌的 blog… 有的! 人家很認真的編曲錄音放到網路上的…
還有那滿坑滿谷的 podcasts…

那.我.的.呢!?

I think I don’t have to keep my half-baked blog theme online now since the project grade’s already out. I still like it without the header image, especially now that I started posting photos again. (In case you’re wondering why I had to keep the header image there, well, it’s controlled by some AJAX script, which fulfills the project requirement. :P)

So, back to Minima! (before I start tweaking it again.)

其實已經有一些構想要怎麼做些小修改了, 不過目前就先這樣吧.

This is a test post from , a fancy photo sharing thing.

So…

I screwed up my templates while upgrading WordPress.

You konw what, I think I’ll just let it be for the time being. It takes forever to tweak the templates anyways. Maybe it would be interesting to have the templates gradually morph into their final results.

Now as long as I made little changes to my templates, I can say that I’m working on my blog.

Better than nothing, eh?

Until then…

OK, this is just an experimental (or mendatory) post so that I can claim my “feed” on Odeo.

I guess I’ll put the two studio recorded songs here just for the sake of it. Trust me, they’re nice to listen to. Ask ht, Chris or Jackie, they’ll assure you. ;)

雖然這只是一篇為了 claim my Odeo feed 的 post, 但我去朋友錄音室錄的歌真的很好聽喔! 不信問楊, Chris 或 Jackie. ;)

Notice that the category “to be categorized” is not there anymore?

I took a break from writing about Alaska, and decided that I can do some blog clean-up. Now all the entries are categorized, and all the photo links are pointing to my own server.

I guess I now can declare my blog beta! ;)

所以今天打算休息一下… 整理整理之前從 blogger 移過來的 entries.

終於… 沒有任何人還在 “to be categorized” 了! 呼!

我順便也把照片的 link 都直接連到我自己的 server 上了. 如果你之前看到一些沒顯示出來的照片很失望的話, 可以再去看看. :) blogger 的 photo service 似乎不允許不同 domain 的連結. 搬家以後我之前好多照片都沒顯示出來.

醬子我是不是可以宣布我搬過來的 blog 已經 beta 了呢? ;)

Spend the past 5 or 6 days porting my blog to WordPress.

Two words: VERY . TIRING .

I think it’s mostly due to my obsession of having everything in the exact place I want them to be in different browsers; the fact that I cannot decide where I want the search box to be on the sidebar doesn’t help, either. (Just in case anyone’s curious, the search box was moved from the top of the sidebar to the middle and to the bottom, and finally to the middle of the sidebar.) WordPress is so configurable, that is really making an undecisive blogger’s life very hard… ~”~

Therefore, I came to the conclusion that, if I don’t put this newly ported blog online before I think it’s done, it’s probably never going online.

So, here you go! The beta version of my WordPress powered blog!

Obviously, the URL of my blog is still the same. The new one also has atom and rss feeds, so hopefully no one will get hurt. ;)

There are still several things I’d like to do with the new blog

• Validate my css and feeds to make sure that everything’s correct.
• Go through all the old posts, fix the image links and set categories.
• Investigate a few more plugins for comment preview and spam control
• Whatever comes to mind along the way…

But for now, I think at least it looks pretty much like the old one.

I really need to learn to stop being a perfectionist… ~”~

(BTW, DO tell me if you see some problems or funky layout! Tanks! ;)

累。死。我。了。

從上個禮拜四開始每天都搞到二三四點睡. 真的是焚膏繼晷日以濟夜. ~”~ 這裡移一點, 那裡改一下, 隨隨便便好幾個小時就過去了. 好不容易搞到 IE 看起來不錯了, 沒想到楊平常用的 firefox 一開, 天哪! 又是一整天的工.

我想, 還是先讓他上線吧… 反正看起來跟舊的也差不多了. 等到我自己覺得都弄好可能是下下輩子的事情了… ~”~

網址還是會跟原來一樣, 所以應該是沒什麼要改變的.

等到上線以後有問題再說吧~
