http://www.supervr.net/catbbs/topic.cgi?forum=7&topic=2430&show=0

Another sunny afternoon .

Ah… another sunny afternoon, another sleepy kitty… (This is our neighbor, Samantha.)

I guess the image of a kitty sleeping underneath a Japanese maple is quite, lovely? ;)

Ding-dong Cat

Ding-dong Cat
Don’t come any closer!

You probably can’t see the gray tabby very clearly in the picture, but that’s ’cause I never actually managed to be close enough to him/her.

In fact, this is the first time I am able to take a good look at Ding-dong cat, after “hearing” him/her for a few months. :)

She (hum, I think it’s a she) visits us around 10, 11 pm almost everynight these days, and will just dash away if we open the door.

I think our LC is quite popular in this neighborhood. Every kitty wants to visit her. ;)

My brother said he always saw her when he comes to Puro the Italian coffee shop. I happened to saw her “owner” yesterday while I was petting her. He said he’s taking care of this and another boy kitty. I guess they’re strays, and this guy’s feeding them or something.

Her patterns look a bit like LC, and she LOVES to be petted. In fact, when I went there by myself today, I heard the meow meow sound before I saw her. It’s almost as if she’s calling people in the coffee shop to go out and pet her. Cute! =^.^=

New Kid on the Block

Well ht spotted this new kitty some time last week. Since our complex is Samantha’s territory, the new kitty was, of course, hissed away by our diligent mixed-Siamese.

I didn’t get the chance to see her (I think it’s a her) until this afternoon when we’re working on our deck. She walked into our garage while it’s open like it’s the most natural thing for her to do! (I wonder how such a careless kitty get to survive outdoor.) She had a tag with her when ht first saw her, but today, nothing.

Samantha’s probably at home most of the time today since her human companion’s there, and this new kid got to explore our complex freely. Well almost freely. We scared her off of our deck when she harassed our kitty too much from the window.

Why did she wonder around here on such a cold night? Why didn’t she have her tag with her? I’ve never seen any outdoor kitty as friendly as she is, not even Samantha. She was literally running around and following us like a dog! I hope she does have a family somewhere…

I think I’ll call her Kid for now.

Lanikai

Our upstair neighbors have left for their Christmas vacation, so THEIR KITTIES ARE ALL MINE! >:)

(Err… I mean, I offered to take care of their kitties while they’re gone… anyways… ;)

Their names are Lani and Kai, which, when combined, is the name of a Hawaiian beach. (How come I can never come up with posh kitty names like that? Guess visiting Hawaii at some point will help!) Kai’s the 8-year-old big guy, and Lani’s his new companion who’s only 4-month-old. They’re both of the breed Tonkinese. V. exotic.

They have cream fur and blue eyes (which don’t show in the picture)… V. V. soft. Actually the big guy’s very soft; the little girl, we never get to touch her. Well, we never get to go near her within 1 foot. Maybe should bring objects like octopus, laser pointer and alike to make them like us more… Hum… will try that tomorrow! :D

LC & I

I’ve been reading some books about cats. Not practical books like “Cats for Dummies” or “Cat Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook”, which I have been unfortunate enough to have to consult with quite often lately, (They’re good books, by the way. They kept me sane during vet hospital’s closing hours.) but books about human-kitty relationships written by people owned by their kitties.

Normally I wouldn’t buy these books. But I guess I needed some relief while browsing all the information I can find about FLUTD a few weeks ago in the bookstores when LC was going thru the bladder infection/crystal crisis.

  • ALL MY PATIENTS ARE UNDER THE BED by Dr. Louis J. Camuti
  • I really really like this book! It has stories told by a vet who has practiced ’till he’s 80 something. Each chapter has a main theme, like where the cats usually hide when he visits, cat owners strange behaviors, etc. It’s also educational to some extent, touches briefly on issues like declawing, spaying/neutering, and all those stuff.

  • The Cat Who Came for Christmas by Cleveland Amory
  • I haven’t decided about my feelings towards this book yet. It seems interesting enough, and yet I find myself jumping one paragraph after another trying to find the point of the story. Also, it contains conversations between the author and this kitty he rescued and adopted. I think the kitty spoke with his tail and eyes and ears and all, and the author did the translation. Hum, and I thought I am humanizing my kitty a bit too much.

  • The Cat Who Went to Paris by Peter Gethers
  • It’s more like the author’s autobiography than cat stories. Besides, he doesn’t really have a cat. He has a human-like creature disguised as a Scottish Fold, who, no matter where they are (including, of course, Paris), is allowed to go outdoor, always answers when the author calls his name, who doesn’t jump out while sitting in a car with it’s windows opened, and all that. Riiiiiight. The kitty’s cute, though.

Maybe I’ve read too much of these books. While I was trying to figure out whether LC got the fever or not this morning, I suddenly have this feeling that, LC seems to be ill whenever I’m really stressful. I was all stressed out yesterday and this morning, and look what happened! She had diarrhea! I was feeling very tired before my brother and I left for LA a few weeks ago, and she had this sudden “incident” of going to her litter box 4 times in 20 minutes, delayed our trip and earned herself another visit to the vet. Now, what happened during the onset of her first occurance of bladder infection??? I think it was the 4th of July weekend… What happened at that time? …… I can’t remember.

and THIS is why I’m not a writer.

Samantha is a mixed-Siamese cat. She never wears a collar. Her owner said that Samantha always manages to get rid of the collar within an hour of wearing it. Samantha’s territory is of course our complex, and also the lot next door. Sometimes I saw her in a complex that’s further down the road, too. She’s very friendly towards people. Our next door neighbor claimed that she’ll knock on their door during cold days asking to come in.

    Our neighbor Samantha

I think she tried to claim my deck as her territorry, but so far I seem to be able to secure it. The picture is taken right below my deck. She usually rests there during warm days like today.

P.S. Obviouly my strategy of “blogging to distract me-self from work” is not working. I wrote horribly today.
